About the Programme
The ecological environments of Hong Kong and Shenzhen are closely interconnected. This GBA Field Trip
will bring Hong Kong youth to the Futian Mangrove Ecological Park, Shenzhen's first National Environmental Science Popularization Base and a winner of the global Star Wetland Centre Award under the Ramsar Convention. This location serves as a critical ecological corridor linking the Neilingding Futian Nature Reserve and the Mai Po Wetland in Hong Kong.
Together, we will explore:
How is green technology applied to nature in the GBA? And how can young leaders utilize these innovative mindsets to open up a nature-positive future?
Programme Highlights
The Perfect Blend of Ecology and Technology:
Observe cutting-edge green tech solutions firsthand, including biodiversity-friendly street lamps (bird-nest street lamps), bird-safe glass curtain walls, and infrared camera monitoring networks.
Hands-on Scientific Exploration:
Experience the authentic scientific inquiry process—"Observe, Record, Analyze, Protect"—by using portable tools for rapid water quality testing and mangrove species identification.
Rare Species & Ecological Value:
Discover the conservation stories of the Black-faced Spoonbill, Eurasian Otter, and Chinese Horseshoe Crab, and learn about an operational model that generates an annual Gross Ecosystem Product (GEP) valued at 192 million RMB.
