About Techathon
As Hong Kong rapidly grows, finding harmony between urban development and nature conservation has never been more vital—and technology is the key. The Sustainability Techathon is an action-packed 48-hour challenge where bold ideas meet real-world impact. Focusing on Biodiversity Monitoring, Smart Conservation, and Sustainable Farming, you will dive deep into local environmental challenges, sharpen your ideas through design thinking, build tangible prototypes, and gain direct mentorship from industry experts. Wrap it all up with a live pitch and turn your tech-driven vision into the green solutions our city needs!
Senior Secondary Track
1-4 Oct 2026 (Fri – Sun)
Integrating STEAM learning and portfolio building, this division empowers students to address local eco-challenges under expert guidance. Participants merge environmental science with tech concepts and design thinking to move from problem discovery to solution framing. Transforming ideas into presentable models, students build a high-impact learning profile (OLE) for future academic pathways.

- Overnight stay is required for this event.
- Participants must be S4-S6 Students (AY 2026/27)
- Teams Size: 5 participants per team.
- School-based registration. Students must apply through their secondary schools.
- Schools can click "Enrol Now" below to download and complete the Excel nomination form.

Tertiary Track
31 October 2026 – 1 November 2026 (Friday – Sunday)
Offering autonomous development time, this division empowers teams to leverage real ecological data and AI/IoT tech concepts under mentor support. Through extended hacking sessions, participants build functional MVPs with real-world potential. A dedicated Networking Session provides direct access to experts to expand professional networks.

Note on Registration
- Overnight stay is required for this event.
- Participants must be full-time post-secondary students in the 2026/27 academic year (including Associate Degree, Higher Diploma, and Bachelor's Degree students; Postgraduate, Master's, and PhD students are excluded).
- Teams Size: 5 participants per team.
- Open team formation. Tertiary students can freely form cross-institutional or cross-disciplinary teams.
- First-come, first-served.
