Global Public Health Summer Summit 2026
Tailored for secondary students interested in Global Affairs, this summit explores the pillars of Public Health, Policy Advocacy, and Global Collaboration. From analyzing disease control to navigating international diplomacy, participants will master the complexities of public health leadership. Through systematic training and field exploration and supported by expert mentors, participants can learn about Hong Kong’s healthcare infrastructure, and develop skills in design thinking and persuasive advocacy. The programme culminates in a mock regional summit, where students role-play global stakeholders to debate health equity and resource allocation.
This year's programme attracted nearly 30 secondary school students from Hong Kong, Chinese Mainland, the Philippines, and Egypt.
During the 6-day, 5-night programme, participants explored core topics including global public health, health policy, and international cooperation through in-depth sharing sessions led by public health experts and university scholars. The Institute arranged a series of keynote lectures, interactive workshops, and site visits, enabling participants from diverse cultural backgrounds to enhance their analytical thinking, problem-solving, and teamwork skills.
The programme culminated in a Simulated Global Public Health Summit. Set against a hypothetical scenario of a novel infectious disease outbreak in the Asia-Pacific region, participants acted as foreign affairs and health delegates representing different countries. Through negotiation, debate, and policy drafting, they worked together to formulate response strategies for a complex public health crisis.
The Institute was honored to have Professor Frances Wong, Founding Director of Joint Research Centre for Primary Health Care, and Dr Ronald Chan, Consultant of the Department of Pathology at North District Hospital and Alice Ho Miu Ling Nethersole Hospital, as our distinguished judges. Both experts commended the participants on their performance and provided valuable professional guidance and feedback on the proposed policy solutions, bringing the summit to a meaningful close.
