AI Curriculum Development and Application Workshop – 香港青年協會領袖學院 The HKFYG Leadership Institute

AI Curriculum Development and Application Workshop

Overview

When designing interdisciplinary project-based learning and school-based activities, teachers often face challenges such as time-consuming topic conceptualisation and difficulty in knowledge integration. This workshop is designed for primary and secondary school teachers and curriculum leaders who wish to improve curriculum design efficiency and promote interdisciplinary teaching.

The workshop focuses on how AI tools support PBL and school-based activity design; teachers will learn to use generative AI for interdisciplinary topic design, knowledge integration and the conceptualisation of innovative challenges. Through hands-on practice, teachers will master concrete methods for cultivating students' multi-perspective thinking and problem-solving abilities, and integrate AI applications into school-based curriculum planning.

Course Content

Understanding Interdisciplinary AI Question-Setting Tools
-Introduction to the basic concepts and application directions of generative AI in interdisciplinary question design

AI-Assisted Interdisciplinary Question Design
-Practical methods of using AI tools to design interdisciplinary questions, covering techniques such as question-type conceptualisation, option generation and difficulty adjustment

Integration of Multi-Disciplinary Knowledge
-Techniques for integrating content from multiple subjects including mathematics, science, language, history and geography, and understanding how AI helps connect knowledge from different fields

Innovative Question Conceptualisation and Challenge Design
-Using AI to conceive innovative and challenging questions, improving teaching design efficiency and the variety of teaching materials

Developing Interdisciplinary Thinking and Problem-Solving Ability
-Through the process of setting questions with AI, cultivating students' multi-perspective thinking, knowledge integration and problem-solving abilities, and promoting the development of interdisciplinary thinking

Instructor

Billy Hau

Former NASA engineer with a strong background in aerospace engineering, holding a master's degree in Mechanical Engineering from Lehigh University (USA) and a master's degree in Computer Science from the Georgia Institute of Technology. During his time at NASA Glenn Research Centre, he took part in several cutting-edge R&D projects, including electric aircraft, lunar outpost systems and deep-space mining robots, and received the NASA Silver Achievement Medal, NASA Group Achievement Awards, the AIAA Best Paper Award and other professional honours.

Billy also led the NASA Young Innovators STEM outreach programme, has years of experience teaching STEM courses from primary to secondary school level, and received the Outstanding Teacher Award from HKU SPACE (School of Professional and Continuing Education, The University of Hong Kong) in 2025, recognising his teaching performance. He is skilled at guiding students, from an engineer's hands-on perspective, to explore mechatronics, AI, aerospace and engineering design through project-based learning, giving classes both professional depth and innovative inspiration.
